As a lover of the sandwich and curious chef, London sandwich shop owner Max Halley is travelling the UK to find inspiration for a new sandwich to put on his menu. This episode of The Sandwich Show takes him to the Northumberland coast, where he forages for seaweed, cooks monkfish kebabs in a seaside shack, and learns how to smoke a kipper.
It doesn’t take much to make a sandwich—all it really comes down to is putting stuff between two slices of bread. But as Max knows, in the right hands, the humble sarnie can become a flavour-packed meal in its own right.
