SACAI AND COLETTE TEAM UP TO DEBUT “JARDIN SACAI”
BY BRENNA O’DONNELL
In the ultimate fusion of Japanese fashion and Parisian boutiques comes the new “Jardin Sacai,” a month long residency of the everyday elegant brand Sacai at the Colette boutique. The “Jardin,” meaning “garden” in French, will draw inspiration from the city’s park spaces including trademark trimmed hedges juxtaposed with fun-loving fairground aspects. Available at Colette will be Sacai womenswear, menswear, and exclusive to Jardin Sacai, childrenswear.
To me, Colette is a spiritual home for Sacai. The store was one of the very first to embrace my work and it’s been a real meeting of minds. It’s an honour to have been chosen and trusted with Sarah’s wonderful playground.
Chitose Abe is in no way selfish with Sacai’s space at Colette, using its section of the 3 story boutique to collaborate with like-minded creators. First is a space dedicated to Hiroshi Fujiwara’s streetwear house, Fragment Design, who Sacai recently collaborated with in designing sneakers for Converse. Also sharing Sacai’s space at Colette is product designers GELCHOP, who will feature furniture that combines modern and vintage to create stylishly new pieces. Finally, photographer Craig McDean’s collection of work for Sacai will be showcased throughout the store and also available printed on t-shirts. Jardin Sacai will even feature a pop-up cafe serving Japanese Toriba Coffee and Toraya Confectioneries.
Sacai’s residency at Colette will start September 4th running until September 30th.
