Driven by a desire to exorcise old fears that have lingered since her school years, Italian stylist and photographer Anna Sandri captures the mood of teenage angst—afraid of the future, bored of the present—in her exclusive fashion story, Too cool for school. Across a series of striking studio portraits shot on 35mm, Sandri tells the story of two young men who spend their time playing dress up with their parents’ wardrobes. According to the photographer, she wanted to portray the childish longing to escape the responsibilities of growing up by creating a scene that is both “intimate and theatrical” and reveals “the inner feud between the protagonists’ polarising identities: who they are and who they want to be.”
