Was it the 2016 Rio Olympics that made the team at Max Mara think about designing a sporty, South American–influenced collection for next summer? Not directly. According to program notes, the link was actually the work of the great Italian-born architect Lina Bo Bardi, who set up her influential practice in Brazil in the middle of the last century. Cue the jungle prints, parrot calls, and a concrete pathway sprouting grass.
