Earlier this year, G-Eazy took the stage with pop superstar Britney Spears at the VMAs. Their collaborative song, “Make Me” and the accompanying performance was the latest milestone in the Bay Area rapper’s whirlwind year, which saw him sell out his tour, and bring guests like Puff Daddy, French Montana and DJ Mustard on stage with him. Even as his fame and popularity continue to rise, the 26-year-old Gerald Gillum remains humble about his career progression and continues to focus on his growth.

Recently, HYPEBEAST had the opportunity to sit down with G-Eazy before he took to the stage at Drai’s Nightclub at The Cromwell in Las Vegas where he is a resident performer. Speaking candidly, the rapper explained that five years of hard work and touring got him to where he is today, and though he’s extremely grateful for his success, he hasn’t lost his motivation, and doesn’t plan on slacking anytime soon. He hopes to keep pushing his art forward with performances in cities like Vegas, where the upbeat atmosphere of the crowds remind him why he loves his job.
