LONDON — Were it not for cultural exchange, then civilization would have never emerged. Thanks to the willingness of our ancestors to adopt practices of other tribes, we have mathematics and manga, not to mention culture itself. Canadian and Turkish designer Erdem Moralıoğlu plucked from the annals of history a fascinating tale of when in 1958 Queen Elizabeth II met Duke Ellington. Although these monarchs ruled over very different subjects, there was enough of an affinity between them for this collection to be born more than a half century later. The dresses were both elegant and soulful, two qualities that are not in fact mutually exclusive any more than the rapport between a queen and duke. On the morning eight models from across the Next global network including Tessa Bruinsma, Nastya Cherkasova, Lia Pavlova, Manuela Miloqui, Odette Pavlova, Myrthe Bolt, Hiandra Martinez, and Oumie Jammeh featured in the lineup.
