A SHORT FILM BY EMILY RICHARDSON AND MARGARET HOWELL In 2002, Margaret worked with architect William Russell on the design of the shop, studio, and offices at Wigmore Street. Since then, the space has been used to present seasonal collections, and host events and exhibitions. ‘I wanted something that was more than just a retail space. I wanted it to be alive: to have a sense of activity, to acknowledge the whole company, and the workforce involved in producing what is on display. I felt that it should be a place in which the customer could feel at ease and comfortable.’ – Margaret Howell To mark the 20-year anniversary, Margaret has collaborated with filmmaker Emily Richardson on a short film that goes behind the scenes of the retail front of house to show how the building and the company work for each other. Emily Richardson is a filmmaker and researcher. Her films have been screened at Tate Modern, BFI London, Barbican Cinema and in galleries and film festivals internationally.
