NEW YORK — A half century on and Marshall McLuhan is not wrong, the medium is the message still. This certainly was the case Saturday night when Alexander Wang unleashed his Spring 2018 collection on the streets of New York City. The message in Wang’s case is that his label alone keeps the pulse of night life in this city and maybe even fashion racing. To communicate this message Wang marshaled significant resources in the way of a party bus for 32 top models, a small fleet of Ram trucks outfitted with tungsten lights and a thundering sound system, and the logistical nous necessary to legally block off city streets at the intersections of Lafayette and Center Streets, Astor Place, and ultimately an industrial cul-de-sac in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Amidst the roving party, there was an actual fashion collection to behold, which ought to appeal to anyone already on board with Alexander Wang’s #WANGFEST express. On the night five notable models from across the Next global network featured including Suki Waterhouse, Alice Dellal, Selena Forrest, Grace Elizabeth, and Binx.
